Larry Robbins, founder of hedge fund Glenview Capital Management, is known for making sports metaphors — over the years, he has compared the U.S. equity market to bowling, football and baseball. Above all, Robbins is a born-and-raised hockey fanatic. He has played the sport since he was five years old, named his long-short equity hedge fund firm for the Illinois town where he played hockey growing up and even built an indoor hockey rink on his New Jersey estate in 2012 for a reported $10 million, including locker rooms and rink-side seating.
