TPG-Axon founder Dinakar Singh is as busy fighting a crippling disease as he is market volatility. The Goldman Sachs alum’s 11-year-old daughter has spinal muscular atrophy, a rare and sometimes fatal condition. Singh has spent almost $100 million of his own money to create and fund a foundation he hopes will help develop a drug for SMA, according to Bloomberg Markets Magazine. The foundation is working with drugmakers like Novartis and PTC Therapeutics to find a cure for the condition, which causes severe muscle weakness in an estimated one in every 10,000 newborns.
