Palatial “Hala Ranch” boasts 15 bedrooms, its own water-treatment plant.

John Paulson has picked up a new trophy property, the 56,000-square-foot “Hala Ranch” in Aspen, Colo., previously owned by Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan.

The founder of Paulson & Co., and executor of the “Greatest Trade Ever,” purchased the ranch and an adjacent property listed at $49 million, CNBC.com reported. For the price, Paulson will get 15-bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and several side buildings that include a water-treatment plant, among other features. He will reportedly rename the property “Star Ranch” and upgrade it to match his specifications.

Photos show a spectacular log cabin-style mansion with gigantic glass windows overlooking a lake and the mountains. The prince had listed it for $135 million in 2006, when it was the most expensive home for sale in the U.S. In a statement, Paulson said he paid “a substantial discount to the asking price.”
