The hedge fund industry donated nearly $2 million to support anti-child abuse nonprofit Hedge Funds Care at the charity’s 13th Annual New York Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit at Cipriani 42nd Street on March 3. The gala drew approximately 1,200 people and honored Anthony Scaramucci, managing partner of SkyBridge Capital, who won the Hedge Funds Care Award for Caring for his "many philanthropic endeavors." Since inception, Hedge Funds Care has awarded more than 660 grants totaling $23 million, and in 2010 affected the lives of 37,560 people, according to the group. Funds from the event will go to anti-child abuse programs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
